Rising temperatures are increasing the risk of wildfires across Europe. However, the issue is not only about heat: how territories are managed, the accumulation of vegetation fuels, the preparedness of local communities, and the response capacity of emergency teams are equally decisive factors.
This was the central message of the thematic webinar organised by the Startup Europe Regions Network, on 24 June, under the RESIST project, co-funded by the European Union. The event brought together experts to discuss practical solutions for wildfire prevention, early detection and response, and featured the participation of FRED project partner CIMBAL.
The session explored innovative approaches such as Integrated Landscape Management Areas, as well as technological solutions and FRED – Fire Free Med project, highlighting the potential of combining land management, data and drones to enhance territorial resilience.
In this context, the FRED project reinforces the importance of an integrated and collaborative approach to wildfire prevention, promoting solutions that combine technological innovation, scientific knowledge, and action on the ground.
These exchange spaces are essential to bring together regions, public authorities, researchers, and local stakeholders, enabling learning, adaptation, and scaling of solutions that contribute to a more resilient Europe in the face of climate change challenges.
🌍 Preventing wildfires is a collective challenge — and it starts with how we manage our territories.
🚀 Innovation is turning prevention into early action.
