The Department for EU Projects of the Municipality Ulcinj (Montenegro) has successfully procured computer equipment and furniture to complete a fully equipped drone monitoring workstation as part of the Fire Free MED – FRED project. This facility empowers Ulcinj Protection and Rescue Service staff to operate the DJI Matrice 350 RTK drone—complete with thermal imaging and auxiliary tools—using the integrated FRED software platform for seamless mission control and data analysis.
Key components of the workstation:
- high-specification computer with peripherals
- desk and chair
- specialised FRED platform.
All elements are optimised for real-time fire monitoring, early detection, rapid response, data-driven decisions, and minimising wildfire impacts through advanced UAS (unmanned aerial system – drone) technology. The facility significantly improves local fire prevention amid intensifying climate challenges.
