THIRD CONSORTIUM MEETING AND FOURTH STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING HELD IN SEŽANA

On May 20, 2025, the third consortium meeting and fourth Steering Committee meeting of the Interreg Euro-MED project FRED took place in Sežana, Slovenia. The host of the meeting was project partner Fire and Rescue Service Sežana (FRSS). The event, held in Hotel Safir in Sežana, was in hybrid format and attended by representatives of the international partnership involved in the implementation of the project. The countries involved include Croatia, Italy, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Greece and Portugal.

The meeting was officially opened by Mr. Blaž Turk, Director of FRSS, who welcomed participants onsite and online. On behalf of the Lead Partner, the University of Rijeka, Faculty of Maritime Studies, Prof. Neven Grubišić coordinated the meeting, during which key updates were provided regarding project finances, reporting, and pilot activity preparation. Updates on work plan and project management were presented, highlighting the status of financial reporting, payment procedures, and upcoming deadlines.

The meeting focused on presenting the progress of project activities so far, addressing current challenges, and defining the upcoming work plan. The current status of FRED platform was presented. Pilot partners provided updates on drone procurement and pilot site preparations. Most partners have completed or are finalizing procurement, with pilot activities set to begin in September 2025. Additional sessions included: Evaluation methodology, Transferability strategy and LiDAR mapping progress, with initial data collection completed in Croatia and Slovenia, and future scans planned for BiH and Montenegro. The meeting concluded with a summary of achieved milestones and upcoming tasks, particularly in view of the next phase of pilot implementation.

During the fourth Steering Committee meeting, major conclusions from the Project Consortium Meeting were further discussed and considered. Following SC meeting, partners also held a Technical meeting. FRSS organized a visit to the Škocjan Caves as well as a tour of their facilities and equipment, further enhancing mutual cooperation and experience sharing.

The next Consortium Meeting and SC meeting will take place in Sicily, hosted by RCG.
