The 2nd Consortium Meeting for the Interreg Euro-MED FRED Project was held in Potenza, Italy on 13th November 2024, while Steering Committee meeting was scheduled for the following day. The Meeting was hosted by the PP8 CGIAM – Centre of Integrated Geomorphology for the Mediterranean Area. The event, held at the Galleria Civica “Gerardo Cosenza” in Potenza, was in hybrid format and attended by representatives of the international partnership involved in the implementation of the project. The countries involved include Croatia, Italy, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Greece and Portugal.
The event was divided into two days full of activities. After the welcome speeches given on behalf of the CGIAM and the Lead Partner, the Meeting agenda was adopted. What followed was the state of play of all the project activities. The activities were presented by the PPs in charge of their coordination. During the Consortium Meeting, partners were mainly discussing about the scientific and technological-operational aspects of the project. Moreover, management and communication activities were presented during the meeting.
In the afternoon, CGIAM organized study visit to Basilicata Region Civil Protection Operations Room, where it was illustrated the operating methods of an executive and strategic emergency management centre, highlighting how a close synergy between monitoring, data analysis, preventive planning and coordination can guarantee rapid and effective responses for the safety of the population and the territory.
The third Steering Committee meeting was held on the 14th November, where major conclusions from the 2nd Project Consortium Meeting were further discussed and considered. Following SC meeting, partners also held a Technical meeting and study visit to the Civil Protection Operations Room of the Potenza Municipality (associate partner of the project). Mr. Brindisi, head of the municipal Civil Protection, illustrated activities and great commitment of the civil protection at the local level to combat emergencies and contribute to the safety and protection of the population.
