On Wednesday, March 11, 2026, Fire and Rescue Service Sežana (FRSS) organized a “DEMO DAY” within the framework of the Interreg Euro-MED FRED project.
The event took place from 10:00 to 13:00 at the FRSS premises and brought together project partners, as well as representatives of institutions and organizations active in the field of protection and rescue, along with university representatives.
The purpose of the event was to present the implementation of project activity A2.2 – pilot activity execution, which represents one of the key components of the FRED project. In the introductory session, FRSS presented the main objectives of the project, focused on improving the prevention, monitoring, and management of wildfires through the use of modern technologies.
As part of the program, FRSS showcased the equipment acquired within the project and conducted a live demonstration of an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone). Participants were introduced to various operational applications of drones, including wildfire monitoring, field data collection, and decision-support during emergency interventions.
Special attention was given to the presentation of a digital application enabling real-time transmission of drone imagery, as well as supporting intervention planning and wildfire modelling. These solutions provide improved situational awareness and contribute to faster and more efficient response by emergency services.
The event also served as a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences between research institutions and operational services, highlighting the practical use of innovative technologies in wildfire management.
