The Ambassador also visited the Ulcinj Protection and rescue service, where he gained insight into the Fire Free MED – FRED project and the drone procured through it. Representatives from the Protection and rescue service briefed the Ambassador on the drone’s capabilities and applications, including versatile thermal imaging for early fire detection, post-incident evaluation, rescue missions, real-time aerial monitoring during emergencies, and specialized software for swift response coordination. This initiative focuses on preventing forest fires, enabling early detection, and mitigating their impacts to protect local natural resources.
The Department thanked Ambassador Sattler for his visit and to the European Union for continued support and co-financing of projects via various EU programmes.
FRED is implemented by the Department for EU projects of Ulcinj Municipality, with the Ulcinj Protection and rescue service as end beneficiary.
